Save the Children will tomorrow launch a new advocacy campaign titled ‘Every Last Child’ which will last for three years, with the aim of assisting vulnerable and less privileged children below the age of eighteen in the country, according to Advocacy and Campaign Manager, Joanna Tom-Kargbo.

Speaking during a media briefing ahead of the launch, she expressed sadness on the huge number of less privileged children across the country, noting that 65% of girls in the country are illiterate.

Ms Tom-Kargbo said the rationale for the campaign was to stimulate action to protect poor vulnerable children and make them productive for national development, adding that the campaign will specifically target excluded children like teenage mothers, street children, and children of beggars, among others.

She explained that over the years, they have been working on ‘Every One’ campaign and during that period they were able to help build capacity of civil society activists, while the campaign served as an eye opener to the public.

Madam Tom-Kargbo continued that the new campaign would be looking at issues like teenage pregnancy, education empowerment and other social aspect of child development, thus calling on the media to play a serious role in the implementation of the campaign.

Civil Society and Human Rights Activist, William Sao-Lamin, remarked that they would be focusing on accountability, and called on his counterpart to put their heart into the fight for children who are vulnerable.
