Former Wusum Stars striker, Mustapha K. Koroma, Wednesday received a cash prize of Le 40.5 million from the leading sport betting company in Sierra Leone, Mercury International, after winning the company’s 4/50 jackpot.
Koroma became the second winner of the newly introduced jackpot after Ibrahim Sorie Kamara, a tobacco seller, few days ago won the sum of Le 110,165,000.
Before the official presentation at the company’s headquarters at Krootown Road, Board Chairman and Chairman of the Mercury International Charitable Foundation, Samir Hassanyeh, congratulated the winner and noted that the cash presentation meant the company had lived to its promise of presenting cash money to winners.
Mr. Hassanyeh admonished Koroma to spend the money wisely and make life easier for him and his family.
The Mercury board chairman also said: “Koroma actual won Le 45,000,000 but after the reduction of 10% tax he is left with Le 40,500,000.”
The delighted ex-footballer was short of words but he promised to spend the money wisely, adding that as a builder he would construct a house in his home town of Makeni.
“I must say praise and thanks be to God for this winning because I almost died of poverty because I was not getting enough money from my job,” Koroma said.
On his part, the Operations Manager at Mercury International, Joseph Harb expressed hope that the win would be a life changer for the lucky winner.
Marketing Manager Olubumi Kamara advised all customers to keep on playing and realise their dreams of becoming millionaires. Kamara also advised players to be responsible and ensure they respect all the rules and regulation prescribed by the company.
