One Patrick Bangura Jnr., 37, who was reported missing since Good Friday, 25 March, 2016 was found dead in a cesspit in his residence, at No. 7K Upper Tengbeh Town, Freetown.

Bangura was a staff at the NP filling station at Main Motor Road (The Light), Brookfields.

His younger sibling, Joseph Cole, who confirmed the sad news to our reporter, said the decomposed body of his brother was discovered by his mother-in-law, who was visiting days after the deceased went missing. Cole said the mother-in-law raised the alarmed when she went to use the toilet and reported seeing an object inside the pit latrine, adding that occupants of the compound and neighbours subsequently identified the ‘object’ as the missing Patrick Bangura.

He said five people have been arrested in connection with the discovering, including the younger brother and sister of the deceased, and are helping the Police at Congo Cross Police Station with their investigation.

However, he said the decomposed body is still inside the pit, although the discovering was made since Monday, adding that the Police have told them pathologist Dr. Owizz Koroma was out of town and that they could not remove the body until this Saturday.

But the sole pathologist in the country had said on public television – Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation – that the country needs a coroner who should conduct an inquest into such mysterious deaths before he could be called on to perform his duty.

Cole said that the entire compound, including the cesspit, has been sealed off by the Police as they wait to retrieve the body for a possible postmortem.

The deceased is said to have been survived by his wife and two-year-old son.
