One Osman Fofanah, 25, was yesterday remanded at the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road for allegedly abusing a three-year-old girl.
The accused was arraigned at the Freetown Magistrates’ Court No. 2, presided over by Magistrate Albert J. Moody, on one count of sexual penetration contrary to section 19 of the Sexual Offenses Act 2012.
According to the particular of offence adduced in court, the accused on 24 March, 2016 sexually penetrated the 3-year-old girl at a residence at City Road, Wellington, east Freetown.
In his brief explanation, Police Prosecutor, Constable 9625 David Davies, said the victim’s mother met the accused and the victim sleeping in the living room with his trousers unzipped.
He said the victim’s mother stated that she later noticed that the victim didn’t have her pant on, and was perspiring, while blood was found around her virginal.
He said the accused person denied the allegation when he was first asked by the victim’s mother, but when she threatened to resort to use voodoo to punish the perpetrator, the accused admitted to doing the act.
Magistrate Moody adjourned the matter for prosecution to open their case.
In another development, Magistrate Moody also remanded one Foday Sesay to the same Correctional Centre, accused of sexually penetrating an 11-month-old baby.
The accused was arraigned on one count of sexual penetration contrary to section 19 of the Sexual Offenses Act 2012.
The prosecution alleges that the accused on Saturday, 26 March, 2016 penetrated the victim at a house in Babadorie, west of Freetown.
The matter will come up again next week.
