Cricket: Salone to engage Eastern squad in friendly tie

With barley five days to go for the ICC Division II T20 tournament, the Sierra Leone national cricket team, ‘The Patriots’, will today engage South Africa based Eastern Cricket team in a double T20 friendly match in South Africa.

The double headed friendly tie with Eastern Cricket squad will be Sierra Leone’s cricket team first international friendly encounter ahead of the ICC Division II T20 cricket tournament, which is slated from 15 to 20 April in South Africa.

According to the Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) Chief Executive Officer, Francis Trevor Samura, since their arrival in South Africa last weekend, the players have been put through their paces together with other batting and bowling training.

He said: “The South African Cricket Coach Kenneth Masinga has also helped us in training session as he helping to polish the strokes and deliveries of the players.”

Sierra Leone will face Rwanda in their first encounter on 15 April before facing Mozambique on 20 April. The winner will progress to the ICC African Division I, which is comprises other African cricket big guns like Zambia, Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana, Botswana and Tanzania.
