After edging Uganda in a friendly, Rwanda National Cricket Team captain Eric Dusingizimana has expressed confidence that they will shine in the ICC Division II cricket tournament slated to take place from 15 – 20 April in South Africa.
Rwanda had two warm-up games with Uganda in T20 and 35 overs, winning the T20 and losing the 35 overs category.
Rwanda will be setting off for South Africa on 14th April to play against Sierra Leone on the 15th before facing Mozambique on 20 April.
The winner in this tournament will qualify for the ICC Division I, which include big African cricket nations like Zambia, Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana, Botswana and Tanzania.
“International friendlies are very important for any team that is vying for international competitions,” said Dusingizimana.
He added that facing an experienced Ugandan side was good preparation for the very young Rwandan team, with the likes of Orchide Tuyisenge and Eric Niyongabo.
Dusingizimana observed that playing and winning against Uganda has boosted the team.
The Rwanda team includes: Fiston Nsengimana, Eric Hirwa, Eric Dusingizimana, Rorckide Tuyisenge, Evode Mutuyimana, Eric Niyomugabo, Gobi Sruthin, Freddy Ndayisenga, Bob Bashil Songa, Zoppy Bimenyimana, Samal Subashish, Derick Bayingana, Clinton Innocent Rubagumya, Don Dieu Mugisha, Charles Karasira, Shiva Samba, Ivan Mitali and Eric Ndangamyambi.
