All roads will lead to the Sierra Leone Football Academy ground, Kingtom today as the Sports Writers of Sierra Leone (SWASAL) will take on secretariat staff of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) in the opener of the two-day football festival.
The gala which is orgaisned by SWASAL to mark the association’s maiden edition fundraising outing to Kent beach on Sunday, 10th April will also attract eight other teams; Sierra Leone Reporters’ Union, Sports Listeners Association, Football Stakeholders, Referees Association, Coaches, National Sports Council, football supporters and veterans.
The second match of the day will be between the Sierra Leone Reporters’ Union and Sports Listeners Association whiles football Stakeholders will engage the referees association.
The tournament will continue on Saturday with the five qualifiers plus a best loser playing for a spot in the next round. Another best loser will be decider from the second round to get four semi-final teams who will battle for a place in the grand-finale which will be played on Sunday at Kent beach.
According to head of SWASAL outing orgainsing committee, Francess Bernard, each match will be played for 30 minutes with exception of Sunday’s grand finale which she said would be played for full 90 minutes.
She said other side attraction matches will also be featured at the beach including a fixture between SWASAL and non-SWASAL members, for the female a match between Print and Electronic media will also feature. Other sporting activities like tug of peace, beach volleyball, and wrestling will also be part of the event.
