Mohamed Cisse of Duquesne University in Pennsylvania, in the United States, also a national athlete for Sierra Leone, over the weekend set a new personal best in the 400 metres outdoor meet at the 2016 Colonial Relays at William & Mary.

Cisse, who recently broke the 400 metres indoor record for Sierra Leone, showed marked improvement on his previous personal outdoor record of 48.28 seconds by clocking 47.40 seconds in his first 400 metres outdoor race for the season.

Cisse scored five points for the Duke with his fourth place finish out of 91 runners in the 400 metres dash as he also set a school record time of 47.40. The Sierra Leonean was also part of the 4×400 metres relay team which also includes David O’Such, Kyle Trinch and Frank Dallago. The team finished in first position with a time of 3:16.01 and earned 10 team points from the race.

Cisse is hoping to make his debut in Sierra Leone colours at the African Athletics Championship in Durban, South Africa, this June, and is also looking to qualify for the Rio Olympic Games before the closing deadline of 11 July, 2016.
