Chief Executive Officer of the Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA), Francis Trevor Samura, says the national men’s cricket team are all set and prepared for the upcoming ICC T20 Division 2 tournament in South Africa.
Sierra Leone technical committee has selected a 14-man squad to represent the country in the week-long tournament, which will run from 15-20 April in Johannesburg, South Africa, and the team will depart Freetown on 8 April for a week-long acclimatisation and friendly matches, before the start of the tournament.
Speaking to Concord Sports, Samura said, “The team have been practicing daily and I am confident we are ready for the tournament. The players are in good spirit and well-motivated for the competition.”
Sierra Leone will have to face Rwanda and Mozambique in the upcoming tournament, while the winner will advance to the African first division.
In a related development, an additional 4 players will join the squad from South African on 25 April for the first male North West Africa Cricket Council T20 tournament in Abuja, Nigeria.
