Acting Managing Director of Airtel, a leading telecommunication company in Sierra Leone, yesterday stated that his company has been touching the lives of many people in the country through their corporate social responsibility, and promised to continue providing help to build the future of the country.
Mr. Dapo Olasope was yesterday speaking at Airtel’s head office, Regent, Freetown, during the launch of ‘Touching Lives Initiative’ and presentation of life changing items to beneficiaries.
He said the initiative was aimed at reaching individuals and communities across the country.
He continued that ‘Touching Lives Initiative’ offers a platform to celebrate humanity, inspiring hope and enhancing quality of life and making dreams come true.
Mr. Olasope maintained that over the years his company had done a lot in their corporate social responsibility, including adopting 50 Ebola survivor orphans, who are now staying in homes provided by Social Organisational Society (SOS) across the country.
“Today we are going to present life changing items to four people, including Khadija Konneh, a breast cancer victim who the company would foot her medical bill and trip to Ghana at the cost Le16,322,380. Mr. Kamara, an amputated ex-police officer has been provided with a shop and a motorbike to the total sum of Le29,338,000. Daniela Musa, a one-legged amputee has been provided with a well furnished accommodation. We have paid a two-year rent for the Network in Need Orphanage Home at the sum of Le36 million,” he disclosed.
“Today we are also giving them an additional cheque of Le54 million Leones plus food items, all to the total sum of Le92 millions,” he further disclosed.
Meanwhile, the beneficiaries expressed thanks and appreciation to Airtel’s management for making them happy, adding that they would always be grateful to the company.
