The United Bank for Africa (UBA) Sierra Leone on Monday, 14 March, 2016 appointed Mrs. Emerica Karefa-Kargbo as the new Chairman of the Bank, replacing Mrs. Gladys Strasser-King.
The bank also appointed Mr. Kofi Adeyemi Macauley and retired Major Abdul Sheku Kargbo as non-executive directors.
It could be recalled that Mrs. Karefa-Kargbo was appointed to the board of UBA Sierra Leone on 11 December, 2012 as Non-Executive Director (NED). Prior to her appointment, she served as Chairman of the Bank’s Board Credit Committee.
The newly appointed Bank Chairman holds a bachelors degree in International Business and Marketing from Howard University in Washington D.C and is a member of the National Association of Realtors in the United States.
She is a vastly experienced entrepreneur and successful in managing businesses both in Nigeria, Sierra Leone and the United States of America.
Mr. Kofi Adeyemi Macauley, one of the non-executive directors, is a holder of a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Horsens Engineering College, Horsens Denmark and has a track record in consulting and logistics companies in Sierra Leone.
Mr. Abdul Sheku Kargbo holds a LLB (Hons.) degree from the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom, LLM in International Business Law, BCU, UK and MA in Human Rights, Globalization and Justice, University of Keele, UK. He is a retired Major from Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces.
