Health Alert Sierra Leone, a civil society organization that promotes health issues, human rights and good governance, is holding a four-day training for their district coordinators and campaigners from all the 14 districts across the country.
With funds from Save the Children International, the training, held at Caritas education conference hall at Kingtom in Freetown, is geared towards analysing policy documents in relation to post-Ebola recovery, as well as strengthening district campaigners to influence the development and implication of post-Ebola recovery plan and ensure accountable service delivery in 2015.
Speaking to this medium yesterday at his Dundas Street office, Programme Manager at Health Alert, William Sao Lamin said the object of the trainingwasfor their coordinators and campaigners to conduct basic health needs assessment and monitor intervention, prevention and control (IPC) and essential health service delivery in peripheral health units across the country.
He revealed that after the training his organization would engage officials at the Office of the Chief of Staff in the presidency, officials from the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, and District Health Management teams, to ensure that CSOs’ recommendations are taken into consideration and factored in the government’s post-Ebola health plan and implementation.
He said Health Alert would embark on media engagement nationwide to continue building citizens’ knowledge on planning and implementation of the post-Ebola recovery plan.
