Sierra Leonean referees have left the shores of Freetown to officiate the CAF Confederation Cup first leg encounter between Kawkab Athlectic Club of Morocco and Barrack Young Controller II FC of Liberia in Marrakech, Morocco.

The quartet – Daudu Williams, Michael Conteh, Franklyn Angel Foray Marah and Raymond Coker – left Freetown yesterday ahead of the international assignment.

According to Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) media officer, Abu Bakar Kamara, the quartet left the country with smiles on their faces, not because of the assignment but because it was the first time in many years the country’s referees have traveled in an official outfit on international assignment.

Central referee Raymond Coker said: “We are very much happy for this development and we must say thank you to the General Secretary, Chris Kamara, for making it possible. We are going to represent the country and I want to assure you that we will always make this country proud.”

The officials will be in action on 11 March, and are expected back home over the weekend.
