Gambia national U-20 technical team has started intensive training session with 28 players ahead of their 2017 African U-20 Youth Championship qualifiers against Sierra Leone in April 2016.
The darling Scorpions, who are undergoing preparation at the FIFA Goal Project in Old Yundum, under the watchful eyes of head coach Omar Sise, will face the Shooting Stars of Sierra Leone on a two-legged tie in April.
According to Gambia based journalist, Lamin Darboe, Sise will have to scout the good players that will make his final 23-man squad that will represent the country in the upcoming championship.
The Gambia eliminated Sierra Leone in the 2011 African U-20 Youth Championship after beating them 4-1 on aggregate in the qualifiers, before edging past Ivory Coast in their final qualifier berth 2-0 on aggregate, courtesy of midfielder Saihou Gassama, under the guidance of the late coach Lamin Sarr.
