Sierra Leone marathon record holder, Idrissa Kargbo, put up a brilliant performance over the weekend at the annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo 10K run, which was organised to benefit area children by providing scholarships for them.
Kargbo, who was fresh from a rather average performance at his last marathon outing, proved his mettle against top elite athletes of the world.
The Sierra Leone international finished 5th out of 16,000 plus registrants of the race with a time of 35 minutes and 02 seconds, a marked improvement from his last outing at the Houston Chevron marathon.
He will now be competing at a half marathon race in March.
