The Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) Monday released the national women’s cricket T20 Super League fixture, which will commence on Saturday 5 March, 2016.

Over 25 female cricketers have been divided into three teams: Grace Jenner Wright, Grace Brown and Kadijah Fofana will all battle at the Kingtom Ovals from March 5-20.

According to the SLCA Chief Executive Officer, Francis Trevor Samura, two matches would be played on a daily bases on Saturdays and Sundays until the final day, 20 March 20.

He said: “The teams were given those names in honour of the late female players and officials. We recently lost an all-rounder Kadijah Fofana, which is why we named one of the teams after her, the same for the late Grace Brown.”

The tournament will commence with team Kadijah Fofana taking on Grace Jenner Wright in the morning, while team Grace Brown will face Kadijah Fofana in the second match of the day.

In a related development, the SLCA technical department over the weekend held three training matches, with the best national batsmen up against the leading bowlers.

In the first T20 match, the batsmen scored 120 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. Opening batman Abubakarr kamara top scored with 39 runs of 38 balls, while Ishmael Komba registered 12 runs in 9 balls, with Balowa Mansaray making 12 runs. The pick of the bowlers was Abass Gbla, who took four wickets for 14 runs.

In the second match, the batsmen got in the mood to attack the bowlers, with Emmanuel Kamara and Abubakarr Kamara both sharing a partnership of 70 runs. Abubakarr dominated by scoring 46 runs, while Emmanuel scored 35 runs. Jacob Mansaray scored 27 runs in 16 balls. Ishmael Komba scored 13 runs in 7 balls and Ibrahim Kabia scored 12 runs in 6 balls. The only bowler who survived the onslaught was Derrick Williams, who secured 3 wickets in 4 overs and 13 runs. The batsmen scored 156 for 6 wickets in 20 overs.
