Two notorious armed robbers – Mustapha Jusu and Solomon Sesay – were on Monday, 29 June remanded at the Male Correctional Central on Pademba Road after they were arrested and arraigned for being in possession of an AK47 rifle loaded with 10 live rounds of ammunition.
They are also alleged to have robbed three complainants of property and money to the tune of Le13.5 million (approximately US$2,600).
The accused were arraigned at the Freetown Magistrates’ Court No.1 presided over by Magistrate Komba Kamanda on seven counts of conspiracy to commit a felony, robbery with aggravation, wounding, assault and unlawful possession of small arms.
According to the charge sheet, the accused, while armed with a gun, scissors, kitchen knife and crow bar, robbed their victims – Munir Soufian, Kusia Shuman and Kamal – on 9 June, 2015 in Masingbi town, Sanda Chiefdom in the Tonkolili district. They also allegedly assaulted and wounded Kamal Shuman.
Police say the accused persons were also found in possession of an AK47 rifle with serial No.196917345557 and 10 live rounds of bullet without lawful authority.
The matter was adjourned to 7 July when the prosecution is expected to open their case.
