Two accused persons – Juldeh Sall and Abdul Bangura – were yesterday remanded at the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road for the alleged gang rape of a five year old girl.
The accused persons were arraigned at the Freetown Magistrates’ Court No.2, presided over by Magistrate Albert J. Moody, on two counts of sexual penetration of child contrary to section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act of 2012.
According to the particulars of offence, the accused persons, sometime in 2015, sexually penetrated a girl child under the age of 18, to wit five years eleven months old, at Regent Road in Freetown.
Police Prosecutor Inspector S. Conteh told the court his witnesses were not in court, thus pleading with the magistrate to grant him an adjournment in order to assemble his witnesses.
In another development, Magistrate Moody also remanded one Yusuf Turay at the Freetown Correctional Centre following his arraignment for allegedly sexually penetrating an eleven-year-old girl.
According to the police prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent T.B. Ziza, the accused person sexually penetrated the said girl on Tuesday, 22 December, 2015 at Quarry, Kissy, east Freetown.
The matter was adjourned until 9 February, 2016 when the prosecutor is expected to open their case.
