Sierra Leonean trio – Lamin Janneh, Amadu Barrie and Foday Suma – have joined Liberian Premier League side Nimba United FC on a one-year loan deal.
Janneh moved from Bo Rangers, whilst Barrie and Suma signed from Kamboi Eagles of Kenema and Victory Evangelistic FC respectively.
According to Sierra Leonean sports journalist who is currently based in Liberia, Prince Scott, the signing of the three Sierra Leonean footballers was a move by Nimba United to make a significant impact in this year’s continental competition where they will face Cameroonian giant Union Club de Douala on 14 February in Monrovia in the CAF Champions League.
He said: “The players were unveiled at the club’s Northern Star Stadium at Mount Barclay in front of a cross section of fans and board members. During the unveiling ceremony the club’s Chief Executive Officer, Adolphus Dolo, said he was happy to secure the services of the players as it was not easy to secure their release from their parent clubs.”
“All three signings are very talented players and the CEO said he hopes they can bring a new dimension and skills into the club for both the domestic league and the CAF Champions League,” added Scott.
However, the Sierra Leonean trio missed the opening match of the league on Sunday 24 January due to work permit.
