- says Deputy Minority Leader

Deputy Minority Leader of Parliament has referred to the ‘more time’ campaign as an unconstitutional instrument that has the tendency to disturb the peace and tranquility of the country.
Speaking during debates on the presidential address to Parliament in December 2015, Hon. Ansumana Jaiah Kaikai said President Ernest Bai Koroma was yet to say anything about the ‘more time’ debate, thus his supporters should not be propagating it to the annoyance of the public.
“Such move was largely responsible for the eleven-year civil war that rocked the entire nation to its knees, as well as destroyed many lives and properties,” said the opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) lawmaker. “This issue of more time is not only unconstitutional but has the tendency to pave the way for another tragedy, which the people of this nation are not ready for at all. The president has never thought of such intention even though we talk most often. Stop putting words into the mouth of those that don’t want to talk.”
Hon. Kaikai appealed to Paramount Chiefs, mothers and religious leaders to intervene and put a stop to such a move since many are well aware of the mayhem meted on the country and its people during the eleven years of civil war.
“Let us stop hiding behind our fingers as we know that similar discourse in the past caused a lot of problems than anything the country had had,” said the MP from Pujehun.
He urged that the supplementary budget be used to address the welfare of Members of Parliament because the initial funds provided to them could not address their welfare properly as most of their bank accounts are in complete red.
