Emergency opens hospital in Lokomasama

December 15, 2015 By Ibrahim Jaffa Condeh

The Emergency Surgical Centre at Goderich has officially opened a first aid trauma post at Lokomasama in the Port Loko District.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Health and Sanitation, Foday Sawi, said the opening of the hospital in Lokomasama was a clear indication that free medical facility would be provided for residents in that part of the country.

“Emergency Hospital has delivered tremendous medical support to the people of Sierra Leone with free of cost medical facilities for the past years; and as a government we appreciate their tireless work,” said Sawi, who also chaired the event.

First Lady Madam Sia Nyama Koroma, who officially opened the hospital, said the Emergency hospital was a blessing to the people of Lokomasama as they would access free medical care.

“Emergency Hospital is a household name in the country for providing medical free services to the people of the country; the current government is aware of their well-done job,” she said.

Programme Coordinator at the Emergency Hospital, Luca Rolla, said support was provided by the European Union for the project and thanked ‘Love Bridges’ for providing the building for the hospital.

“We are in Lokomasama to provide hope to urgent cases that are in dire need and residents of Port Loko district can now find it easier to access free medical services,” he assured, adding that the project was a clear sign of their commitment to complementing the work of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation in providing medical assistance to the people of this country.
