The Attitudinal and Behavioural Change (ABC) Secretariat, in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Road Transport Corporation (SLRTC), on Friday June 19 sensitised over 100 drivers on the concept of attitude, behaviour change, nationalism, patriotism and positive change.
Deputy General Manager of SLRTC, Foday Suma, said there are a lot of challenging issues including ignorance of rules and regulations, unprofessionalism and negative attitude of drivers across the country, and that the session was organized to ensure that they inject a positive attitude in their minds for a better Sierra Leone.
He said the drivers were lectured to prepare them for the arrival of the 100 buses being ordered by the government from China, and that they should be the face of the corporation by putting up a very good attitude.
National Coordinator of ABC, Madam Nanette Thomas, lectured the drivers on the concepts of attitude, nationalism, and patriotism.
She noted that the world would be a better place to live should people inculcate the conduct of positive attitudes, adding that drivers should put up a very good attitude towards their work and present a good image about the corporation.
She stressed on the importance of positive attitude, thus calling on drivers to be punctual, conduct routine checks, be polite to passengers, and dress properly while on duty.
Madam Thomas noted that negative attitude to one’s job should not be entertained and that drivers should be obedient to their authorities.
She continued that negative attitude can affect an individual’s life and that drivers should conduct themselves properly and be loyal to the corporation.
