Assistant Superintendent of Police Kandeh Konteh of the Calaba Town police station yesterday confirmed to Concord Times the arrest of one Benjamin Nyallay, who allegedly broke into the Choithram Chemical factory and attempted to steal a fire arm belonging to the officer on duty.
Nyallay ran out of luck when he was arrested by an Operational Support Division (OSD) officer, Bai Koroma, deployed at the factory
Explaining to some newsmen, Mohamed Kamara, a Mount Everest security personnel attached to the factory, said the suspect, who was “carrying a cutlass”, told him that they were five in number and that they broke into the factory’s compound in search of fire arm “to execute a special assigned mission”.
“I screamed and the OSD personnel intervened, while the suspect took cover. The OSD officer fired a warning shot in the air but the suspect could still not come out and surrender,” he narrated.
He said the OSD personnel searched the compound and later apprehended the suspect, who is in custody and helping the police in their investigation.
