The elective congress of the Sierra Leone National Cycling Association (SLNCA) has for the second time in a year been postponed, this time indefinitely, by the advise of the newly appointed Director of Sports Ibrahim Bangura.

According to information from the National Sports Council (NSC) secretariat, the decision to postpone the congress came after Wednesday’s meeting between executive members of the SLNCA and the newly appointed director.

Furthermore, a source close to the SLNCA said it was agreed that a date for the congress will be announced after a second meeting with the director, who also asked the SLNCA to hand heads and resolve their in-house wrangle before the next meeting.

This is not the first time the SLNCA congress has been postponed; it was initially slated for Sunday, 25 January but was suspended indefinitely due to several reasons, including electoral issues, which prompted the deferment.

The association’s president, Winston D.C. Crowther earlier told journalists that the delay in conducting nominations was the reason for the postponement of the congress.
