Herbert Williams fell sick in prison

Lawyer request medical attention for Herbert
Magistrtae Mark Ngeba presiding over the preliminary murder trial of journalist Ibrahim Samura could not proceed as one of the accused persons, Herbert George Williams, was reportedly sick.
Williams, who has served as Mayor of the Freetown City Council between 2007 and 2012, was nerviously sitting in the dock as his lawyer, Melron Nicol-Wilson, complained that his client is ‘seriously sick and needs immediate medical attention’.
His lawyer made an application for the magistrate to adjourn the matter so that his client could seek medical apparently at the Pademba Road Maximum security prisons.
Meanwhile, a prison officer who preferred to be anonymous said the accused got a sudden attack whislt in detention.
However, State Prosecutor, Adrian Fisher Esq, told the court that government pathologist, Dr. Owizz Koroma was in court to testify but that since the Bench has consented to adjourn, he would still bring him on the next date.
Williams and Daramy, former Public Relations Officer in the Ministry of Agriculture, were charged with two counts of murder and conspiracy.
According to the particulars of offence, both accused persons on Saturday March 31st 2018 at Lumley in Freetown allegely murdered one Ibrahim Samura. But the men were not allowed to take a plea.
The matter was adjourned to Friday November 1, 2019.
