It is glaring that most entrepreneurs in Sierra Leone are convenient conducting business in big cities, where they are assured of attracting bigger customers and making more money. As such, people in smaller communities across the country find it very difficult to access certain basic commodities. But the Upper Bambara Chiefdom,Kailahun District in the eastern part of the country is blessed with a good Samaritan, who has been salvaging the plights of residents.
Momoh Kamara is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of M.O.K enterprise. As a young man in his early 40s, he has vowed to put the Upper Bambara Chiefdom above other modern Chiefdoms with up-to-date business facilities.
Before now, people found it very difficult to access building materials in the chiefdom. They would have to travel way to Kenema to access not only building materials but other basic commodities at costly prices, with a lot of struggles. But the advent of MOK Enterprise has made life easier for people in that of the country. As at now, residents can access all sorts of building materials at pocket-friendly prices.
Aside from making building materials available in the chiefdom, MOK Enterprise has put smiles on the faces of Cocoa farmers. Previously, farmers with large quantity of cocoa were forced to take their produce all the way to Kenema, where they were assured of getting the required amount of money for their produce. But with the intervention of MOK into the produce arena in the chiefdom, farmers are now happy to sell their produce in Pendembu because he always does things according to their expectations.
“What is the essence of taking my produce to Kenema when MOK pays according to its worth?” one of the farmers posed a rhetorical question.
Additionally, during the rainy season when farmers are faced with difficulty in accessing basic staple food, MOK has been regarded as the leading rice provider for the chiefdom at a cost recovery basis. This is because his shop never runs dry of such items at any time of the year.
As a Good Samaritan also, MOK has always been there to provide for whosoever is in need of help, irrespective of any affiliation. He is always in a position to assist families with food and other items.
The secrets behind the success of this accommodating, friendly and easy-going young man who can hardly hurt a sleeping ant are honesty, transparency and hard work among others. No wonder Lebanese like TAS and Abass Kriesh who are regarded to be the leading export and importers of produce and other goods in the Eastern Region have literally fought each other over the years to secure the signature of this young man( M.O.K) as their business partner.
A selfless man with a sense of community, MOK has over the decades built a network of about 20 and more Produce Agents and Farmers within the Upper Bambara Chiefdom and even beyond.
He has been able to gain the loyalty of residents in the chiefdom because of his transparent method of doing business. The very reason why he is one of the leading produce buyers in the chiefdom is rooted from his win-win method of transaction. This simply means, in as much as he is doing business for profit making, but he equally wants his agents or any other customer to succeed in their businesses.
With the presence MOK Enterprise, the people of Upper Bambara Chiefdom can now breathe a sigh of relief.
