Digital Islam yesterday launched its first Islamic Magazine and recognised twenty (20) influential Muslim youth in Sierra Leone.
The award aimed to make Muslim Youth become more aware of their Islamic values and to be steadfast in their daily life.
Ansumana Keita, one of the recipients said the award served as a motivation for him to do more, thus noting that he would try to do more in pushing the course of Islam and be an inspiration to young Muslims in the country
He thanked the organizers for their tremendous support in making his dream come true.
Hussain Hassan Rabb Kamara (CEO) of Digital Islam and one of the recipients said the award was very important and that it was a manifestation that Islam is moving rapidly in Sierra Leone and the world at large.
“Muslim Youth become more aware of their Islamic values, where our passions get streamlined for the good of all and where our beloved and most honoured religion gets more superiority,” he said.
He said it is true that the beauty of Islam never gets old or soiled and that it is always delightful, divine, ever living, practical, believing, motivating, rich and exceptionally profound to be part of it.
“We’ve come a long way putting together this remarkable and never to be forgotten occasion. Let’s start appreciating ourselves by profiling of Islamic Scholars, Islamic Personalities in Governance, Imams, Sheiks, Purposeful Youths, and the Muslim Community in general,” he said.
He added that there should always be platform to market and celebrate each one and others hard work and success stories.
In his keynote address, Dr. Kandeh Yumkella spoke about the need for morality, uprightness and honesty among Sierra Leoneans.
He noted that the erosion of those values have been hugely detrimental to the country as a whole, thus making allusion to ministers and judges who took oath of office, but forget too easily.
He said Sierra Leoneans admire and celebrate corrupt individuals, thus stating that the young generation would become worse.
He spoke about the Hands off Our Girls campaign and praised the organizers of the campaign and the First Lady, Mrs Fatima Bio, for her support for the campaign.
He also showered praised on the organizers of the Digital Islamic Magazine for recognizing the need to develop a digital platform, which would help the magazine to harness greater opportunities and to engage with their readers with the view to developing more digital products which will benefit them.
He commended the organizers for identifying twenty of their contemporaries for awards.
