The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has confirmed that the player Status Committee will investigate and resolve the player’s transfer issue within 48 hours.
According to a statement from the SLFA, they received confusing reports and allegations about the striker, Musa N. Kamara (Musa Tombo) who was said to have abandoned his contract within days of signing a lucrative three-year deal with Swedish club, Trelleborgs FF.
The SLFA said: “The SLFA has summoned an emergency player status committee meeting, which will convene with immediate effect on the 21/8/19, between representatives of AIK (Sierra Leone) and East End Lions.”
“The primary aim is to secure the well-being of its players and to protect the integrity of the game. The FA will seek to investigate and resolve this matter within 48 hours. Meanwhile, Musa Tombo upon his arrival in Freetown today will be received at the airport by the SLFA, who will assume the responsibility of the player until a decision has been announced by the Status Committee.”
The Swedish club confirmed the termination of the player contract on their official website. The club statement reads: “We cancel the contract with 19-year-old Musa Noah Kamara from Sierra Leone. The contract is canceled after the player wishes to return to his home country for personal reasons.
“It was last week that we signed the agreement with the 19-year-old striker who has played for both Sierra Leone’s senior national team and the country’s U20 national team. The contract, which was now terminated, was written for 3.5 years and the striker was intended primarily as a long-term reinforcement.”
“Musa has wanted to go home to Sierra Leone for personal reasons and we have chosen to meet his wishes,” said Peter Swärdh, the club Manager.
In several audios on social media, the striker explained that he wanted to return to Freetown as he could not cope with the cold weather in Sweden. Kamara finished as the top goal scorer of 2019 Sierra Leone Premier League with 15 goals to help East End Lions emerge as champions.
