The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International cooperation, Hon. Jacob Jusu Saffa on Tuesday 23rd July, 2019 joined the Arab Republic of Egypt Embassy in Sierra Leone to grace the 67th anniversary of the 23rd July 1952 Revolution National Day (constitution day) of Egypt at their Embassy at spur Loop, Freetown.
In his welcome address, the Ambassador of Egypt to Sierra Leone H.E. Mayer Almahdy Ata Al-Sayed said they are not only celebrating the National Day but also their hundred (100) years since their 1919 1st Egyptian African Revolution for independence and self-determination. Egypt he said has fought for itself and other Africa nations by trying to get other African countries together starting with morocco, Mali, Guinea among others.
The Ambassador also shed light on the excellent state of bilaterial relations between Egypt and Sierra Leone stating that both countries shared mutual beneficial relationship; through the existing tremendous scope and potential to futher promote education, trade, investment, capacity building for the mutual benefits of the two countries.
Egyptian-Sierra Leonean relations, Ambassador Al-Sayed said is an excellent one, that is flourishing and continuing to grow, for the good of the two sisterly countries.
The Ambassador also appealed to the business community, travel/tour operators, investors to make mutual exchanges in promoting tourism, trade and investment as Egypt offers opportunities and potentials in several sectors.
The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Jacob Jusu Saffa in his response thanked the distinguished Ambassador for his statement and expressed his sincere gratitude on behalf of His Excellency, President Julius Maada Bio, the Government, and People of the Republic of Sierra Leone.
He conveyed a warm fraternal greetings to His Excellency President Abdel Fattah Al Sissi, the Government and People of the Arab Republic of Egypt, on their historic celebration through Ambasador Sayed.
Hon. Saffa expressed how honored and delighted he was to grace the celebration of the 67th anniverary of the July 23rd 1952 Revolution of the Arab Rebublic of Egypt and noted that this year’s anniversary celebration bears the importance of the renewed vision of Egypt’s leadership in transforming the country from a moderately prosperous society to a very modern and developed nation.
A vision, the Acting Minister said, which resonated with that of President Bio’s vision for Sierra Leone.
Acting Minister Saffa continued that the Republic of Sierra Leone and the Arab Republic of Egypt have traditionally maintained amicable bilaterial relations that cut across socio-political, educational and cultural spheres centred on human capital development. The Arab Rebulic of Egypt has continously provided support aimed at enhancing both institutional and human capacity and Agriculture.
Hon. Saffa also acknowledged that the Arab Rebulic of Egypty has played a fundamental role in the fight against corruption In Sierra Leone taking cognizance of the just concluded High-Level First Anti-Corruption Forum in Sham El Shiekh, Arab Republic of Egypt, where Sierra Leone shared her experiences in the fight against corruption thereby, identifying its causes and solutions to combatting corruption, which is a national security threat.
Acting Minister Hon. Jacob Jusu Saffa speech was climaxed by raising a toast to the health and well-being of His Excellency the President, Abdul Fattah El Sisi, the Government and the people of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Present at the ceremony were: Ministers, Senior Governmental officials, Ambassadors, Heads of Regional and International Organizations, Members of the Diplomatic Corps and Egyptians citizens resident in Sierra Leone.
