Orange donates food items to mosques in Bombali and Kono districts

As part of its Ramadan Sunakati promotion draw, Orange Sierra Leone has donated food items to several mosques in Bombali and Kono Districts respectively.

A team led by Desmond Spaine, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, Orange Sierra Leone started the donations  on Friday, 24th May at the Makeni Central Mosque and later to other mosques within the town.

Officially handing over the food items including ten bags of rice, onions, milk, sugar salt, tomatoes and other cooking condiments, Abdul Dizzo Kamara noted that they were in solidarity with their Muslim brothers and sisters during the month of Ramadan.

Earlier, CSR Manager, Desmond Spaine, noted that Orange is always obliged during the month of Ramadan to support Muslims with food items so as to complement the holy month.

He further disclosed that the donation is done annually and it is usually done across the country.

While receiving the items on behalf of the Makeni Central Mosque Jamat, the Chief Imam for Bombali District, Sheik Lamina Koroma, thanked the management of Orange for having the initiative to give during the blessed month of Ramadan.

He informed Oange managment that it is a commandment in the Holy Quran that people who gives charity during this month stands to have double blessings from the Almighty God.

He thanked the Orange team for presenting the items and prayed to God Almighty for their business to prosper , thus calling on the management of Orange to sustain what they have started.

Madam Abibatu Baxter, Starategic Partnership Manager, Orange Sierra Leone, used the occasion to speak to the congregation about the on-going Sunakati Ramadan promotion.

She noted that subscribers of Orange can win food items if they are involved in any Orange money transactions or when making calls.

She implored the Chief Imam and the Jamat to participate in the promotion as they are liable to win food items for them and their families.

The team later made presentations in surrounding mosques in the District including Binkolo and Panlap. All the Muslim congregations appreciated the gifts and thanked Orange for supporting them during such difficult times.

The Regional Business Manager, North, Dizo Kamara used the opportunity to explain to the different Jamats about the Sunakti promotion draw and encouraged them to take part as they could be lucky winners of food items.

On Saturday 25th May, 2019 the team headed for Kono District and also made similar presentations to Kainkordu Road Mosque and other surrounding mosques in the District.

The CSR Manager and the Kono team also explained to the various Muslim Jamats the purpose of the donations.

They also used the opportunity to take them through the many products and services the company is offering. They called on them to subscribe to Orange so that the company will make more money to engage in more Corporate Social Responsibility projects in the near future.

The team has also used the opportunity to donate packaged items to the vulnerable people who always come around the various mosques to ask for alms.

James Balat Regional Business Manager, Kono and Kenema, who handed over the items to Alhaji Sheikh Suffian Kabba-senior Chief Immam of Gbense chiefdom, used the occasion to express felicitations from the company.
