The Christian Association of Sierra Leone (CASL) comprising Catholic Mission in Sierra Leone, Council of Churches, Evangelical Fellowship, Pentecostal Fellowship and other Christian Networks have expressed dismay over the recent robbery attacks meted on some Catholic Sisters and other citizens across the country.

“This body is terribly shocked at the recent dastardly attacks on Catholic Sisters in Bumbuna, Mile 91, Kambia and Moyamba, and other citizens in those areas in an apparently simultaneously coordinated armed robbery attack,” the release states.

The Christian Association of Sierra Leone (CASL) was formally inaugurated at a one-day retreat mounted by the Body of Christ on Thursday 16th May 2019.

According to a release from the association, such attacks on persons who have consecrated their lives on helping the disadvantaged in society, serving God and humanity stand seriously condemned.

“Not only do they violate the rights of peaceful citizens they also send a serious signal of insecurity in our land.CASL records its gratitude and appreciation to the nation’s security forces for their prompt action in apprehending the alleged culpritsand urges the police force not only to continue chasing the others but to mount up their investigations on the circumstances surrounding those incidents.”

They called on the authorities to take immediate and prompt action to arrest the spate armed robbery and violence in our country.

“Government should bring about the re-enforcement of the law on sacrilege as such attacks are now waged on Churches and other religious institutions and personalities. As a sign of solidarity the CASL calls on all Churches to offer special prayers for those who have been undeservedly subjected to such unwarranted attacks. It is the prayer of all well-meaning Sierra Leoneans that this evil menace will be put to an end and citizens will feel confident to walk and live comfortably in our native land of Sierra Leone.”
