Magistrate Abdul Sheriff, presiding at the Pademba Road court No.3,has on Wednesday (17th April) committed a sexual penetration matter involving one Abdul Rahaman Bangura,26, to the High Court for further trial.
The accused person was preliminarily investigated at the lower court for an alleged sexual penetration of a 5-year-old girl, contrary to Section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act No.12 of 2012.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Gloria Macauley, alleges that the accused person on Monday, 11th February, 2019, at Metzular Lane, Hamilton in Freetown, sexually penetrated a girl below the age of 18 to wit 5 years.
Magistrate Sheriff remarked that, ‘Having gone through the evidence so far presented in the preliminary investigations, I am satisfied that the accused person has a case to answer. I therefore commit this matter to the High Court of justice for trial.”
Earlier in her testimony, the victim identified the accused as her father and recalled on the day of the incident.
She said on that day after school, her mother was not around and that the accused was alone inside the house.
She narrated that when she entered into the house, her father removed her dress and started inserting his finger inside her vagina.
“After the forceful act, I felt several pains and blood started oozing from my vagina.My mother later came and caught the accused on the act,” she testified.
She said her mother later reported the matter to the police.
