…as thousands pay their last respect

John Bonoh Sisay, Chief Executive Officer of the Serra Rutile Mining Company, has eulogised his mother as thousands gathered in Freetown from across the country and abroad to give the late dame a befitting burial.
Sisay told mourners that the late woman, Mrs. Binty Sisay, was the best mother anyone could have because she taught him the “heart of God through her unconditional love for humanity irrespective of religion or tribal background”.
While reading a tribute at the well attended memorial service attended by President Ernest Bai Koroma and First Lady Sia Nyama Koroma, Cabinet Ministers, Paramount Chiefs, Members of Parliament and dignitaries from all walks of life, at the National Pentecostal Church, Fort Street in Freetown, the mining executive said his mother’s work was done in the world and God had decided to call her back to rest as a good and faithful servant.
He said God could not have chosen a better vessel to bring him into this world, and that it had been his life’s pleasure and privilege to call the late woman his mother.
“Mother you taught me the heart of God through your unconditional love and support. All that is good in me and all that I have done that is commendable have been because of your blessing and henceforth,” he said.
He promised never to put a blemish on his mother’s blessed memory, and that he would continue to live a life worthy of the sacrifices his mother made.
Sanie Sisay, another sibling to John, also said their mother lived a good life and gave love, and loved with all her heart, and welcomed with open arms and warm embrace everyone. He said his mother raised him to be independent and nurtured him to live with confidence despite physical limitation, adding that he would be forever thankful and grateful to her for that.
Also, First Lady Sia Nyama Koroma paid a tribute to the late Mrs. Binty Sisay, who she first met in the late ‘70s and they became not just friends but sisters. She said in the late ‘80s the late woman and her family welcomed her in their home in the United Kingdom and treated her like a family.
She said the home of the late woman was a meeting place for many Sierra Leoneans living in the United Kingdom.
The First Lady described the late Mrs. Sisay as a devoted wife and mother who had love for everyone in her nuclear family, and the family of her husband.
“The late woman was a devoted Christian. Speaking to her before she passed away, she expressed sad feeling about her inability to see her spiritual mother, Rev. Dora Dumbuya (Mammy Dumbuya) of Jesus is Lord Ministry,” revealed the Madam Koroma.
The remains of the late women were buried at the Kingtom cemetery.
She died in London on Thursday 3rd September, aged 67 years.
