Detective Sergeant 10270 Conteh A.B, attached to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Eastern police, on Tuesday (12th March) testified before Magistrate Hannah Bonnie in relation to an ongoing murder matter between the State and John Kamara.
In his testimony, Detective Sergeant 10270 Conteh A.B, recognised the accused person and recalled on 5th February 2019, while he was on duty at the station.
He said a file was returned to the station from the Public Prosecutor and was allocated to him for further investigations.
He said after investigations and legal advice from DPP, the accused was charged with the offense of murder.
Another witness in respect of the matter was DPC 13221 Bundor G. M attached at the CID Eastern police, who introduced himself as a Senior Crime Officer and that his responsibilities includes visiting scenes of crime and taking photographs, which he normally developed into pictures.
He said on Thursday, 3rd January, 2019, at 4pm, himself and DPC 10941 Noah L.M, together with the family of the deceased went to the Connaught Hospital Mortuary to witness the autopsy examination that was conducted by the country’s pathologist, Dr. Simeon Owizz Koroma.
The witness said while the autopsy was in progress, he took photographs of the deceased and later developed them into pictures, which he tendered in court as exhibit.
The accused is before the court on one count of murder contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.
It is alleged that 25 years old John Kamara, a trader, murdered one Isata Sankoh at Mountain Cut, Freetown on Wednesday, 26th December, 2018.
The matter was prosecuted by Assistant Superintendent of Police, Ibrahim S. Mansaray and the accused was represented by Lawyer H.M Gavao.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Hannah Bonnie remanded the accused and adjourned the matter to Tuesday 19th March.
