Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Advanced Management and Technology (IAMTECH)- an affiliate of Njala University -has urged new students to focus on their academic wor, if they want to come out with excellent results.
The college over the weekend matriculated eight hundred and sixty-eight (868) students, who have met the requirements of the institution to pursue diploma and degree courses in various fields.
In her statement, Professor Roseline E. Uyanga congratulated the new students and thanked them for choosing the college as their place of higher learning.
“This is a special college that gives you the opportunity to choose programmes that you will never go round looking for jobs. As you are here, I beg of you to open your heart, listen to your lectures and do not want to have it the short way but get yourself involved in what you have come to study so that at the end, you will have no reason to regret,” she urged.
She stated that she started coming to the college in 2011 as a visiting professor from Nigeria and what she saw then made her to fall in love with the institution.
Professor Ayanga thanked the parents and guardians for providing the funds for their children to acquire higher education and encouraged the new students not to go out disappointed at the end of their course.
“Make the best use of this opportunity and be sure of giving back to the institution and the nation as a whole. In this institution you have find yourself, we don’t just give out degrees but we also look at your character,” she said.
Earlier, the college Principal, Dr. Michael Wundah, warned the students not to engage in anti-college activities but rather concentrate on their studies in order to earn well deserved grades.
He noted that the lecturers have contributed in making the college a great and memorable institution of learning in Sierra Leone for the past twenty-five years.
“You are welcoming today in this great place. Today you are formally initiated into this college. You have chosen to come to the right institution because we are post-modern tertiary institution. We are head of technology by a mile,” he said.
