Sierra Leone Table Tennis Association (SLTTA) are gearing up for the President Cup tournament, which is scheduled for April 2019 at the national table tennis gym, Siaka Stevens Stadium.
The tournament, which is always organised immediately after an elective congress in the association, is expected to attract big prize money this year.
According to the national head coach, Joseph Koroma, preparation for the President Cup is presently ongoing the same for other local and international tennis competitions.
Coach Koroma said the elections process was one key factor that delayed their competition preparation, but they are now working towards the President Cup before preparing the players for their first international assignment which is the world championship in Hungary.
“The new executive wants us to have several local competitions, and one of the main objectives is that they want to ensure we have a national table tennis league just like how the football league is playing now in the country,” coach Koroma said.
Meanwhile, the SLTTA new executive is headed by Obi Frazer who went unopposed for the Presidency whiles Aminata Turay was elected as the Vice President, Arnold Datton Battis as Secretary-General, Prince Kaitonqi as Financial Sec/Treasure, Abraham Cobba Sesay as PRO, John Bobson Taylor as Administrative Secretary.
