The Sierra Leone Wrestling Association, with support from the Olympic Solidarity has concluded a week-long Development of National Sports Structure (DNSS) United World Wrestling (UWW) coaching course phase II over the weekend in Moyamba.
The course, which was run by the former Ivorian-born French freestyle wrestler who is now a UWW expert, Vincent Aka-Akesse,comprised both theory and physical aspect of the sport,with an improved topic from the Phase I training.
President of Sierra Leone Wrestling Association, Prince Sualley believes the two trainings, if implemented by the coaches, will have an impact on the development of the sport in the country.
“The importance of the two phases cannot be over-exaggerated to both the participants and for the country. As coaches, they will play a key role towards talent identification,” Sualley said.
He expressed his appreciation towards the Olympic solidarity and National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone for the resources they have provided in making the coaching clinic a reality.
The United World Wrestling Provides annual funding to support global wrestling development at national level and the funds could be acquired through the programme.
It is the second coming of course expert, Vincent Aka-Akesse,who in December 2015 conducted wrestling level I coaching course in Freetown.
