Community Head, others dragged to court

Abu Sesay, Community Head of Mongagba Community in the east part of Freetown, Abass Denkeh, and Musa Sesay are presently before Magistrate Santigie Ibrahim Sorie Bangura of Court No.1 for preliminary investigation on allegation of conspiracy, larceny and malicious damage.
The trio were charged with conspiracy, larceny and malicious damage, contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone. The prosecution alleges that all accused on a date between July 1st to August 30th at Mongagba Community in Freetown, conspired with unknown persons to commit a felony to wit larceny and malicious damage.
The prosecution further alleged that all accused on the above date, damaged a school structure and also stole building materials worth over one billion Leones, properties of one Elizabeth Square.
Testifying last Friday, September 28th, the first prosecution witness who is also the complainant in the matter, introduced herself as a banker and identified all accused persons as her community people.
She recalled a day between July 1st, to August 30th, while she was at her office, she received phone call from someone who gave her certain information about the incident for which they are in court.
She noted that she acted on the information she received and immediately went to her building site at Mongagba community, where she had already constructed a six classroom primary school and had started foundation for the construction of a secondary school.
She said at the scene, she observed that the primary school building was damaged, the foundation of the secondary school was also damaged and the store where she had kept her building materials was also damaged with the building materials missing.
She further told the court that she has all document to the land from the Ministry of Lands, including building permit, adding that she later reported the matter to Anti Land Grabbing Department at the Criminal Investigations Department and subsequently made statement.
