Sierra Leone over the weekend recorded double victory at the Union of Africa Olympic Committee (ANOCA) Zone II Beach Volleyball Championship in The Gambia, defeating both Mali and Cape Verde respectively.
In their opening match of the tournament, both male and female team registered a comfortable win over their Malian opponent.
The male pair secured a two straight set win 21-11 & 21-10, while the female side secured a similar but even more impressive result winning 2-0 (21-10 & 21-6).
After the Malian assignment, both teams went on to defeat Cape Verde in two straight battles. The male score-line ended 2-0 (21-16 & 21-16) and in the female clash, it was 2-0 (21-16 & 23-21).
It was two wins out of two for Sierra Leone male and female team who reached the semi-finals of the tournament. Sierra Leone went to The Gambia with a six-man delegation made of up two male, two female and two officials.
The male team was drawn in pool A alongside Mali and Cape Verde and in the female category, Sierra Leone is in Pool B alongside, Guinea Bissau, Guinea Conakry, and Cape Verde.
