Dr. Al Sheik Kamara

Deputy Inspector General of the Sierra Leone Police, Dr. Al Sheik Kamara, was last Friday relieved of his duty with immediate effect.

While confirming the news, Head of Police Media Unit, Superintendent Brima Kamara told Concord Times that nothing was indicated as to the reason (s) for his sudden dismissal.

Director of Support Services, Assistant Inspector General Foday U.K. Dabor has been appointed as Acting Deputy Inspector General with immediate effect, according to a letter signed by Inspector General of Police Dr. Richard Moigbe.

Meanwhile, Concord Times gathered that Dr. Kamara may have sacked for his role in allegedly authorising bailiffs to demolish the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) block factory at Goderich, apparently acting on a court order.

DIG Dr. Kamara was appointed Deputy Head of the Police by former President Ernest Bai Koroma in November 2017. Shortly after President Julius Maada Bio assumed office, it was rumoured he would be sacked because of his alleged allegiance to the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC).
