Tetteh Bangura ready to be back

September 2, 2015 By Sahr Morris Jr.

Swedish Superettan side, Mjällby AIF, hopes to have their Sierra Leonean striker, Ibrahim Teteh Bangura, for their away trip to Jonkoping on Monday September 14.

The striker, who made his debut for Mjällby AIF on August 16, missed the club’s two last matches against AFC United, Östersunds FK respectively due to work permit issue.

Despite receiving his gaming licenses clearance from the Swedish Football Association, the club forgot to extend his work permit at the Migration Board, which debars him from playing.

Mjällby manager Jörgen Martinsson admitted that communication failure between them and the player’s agent was the problem over the issue.

“To make a long story short, there has been a failure in communicating internally with us and between Bangura’s agents,” Martinsson said and hoped the matter will be resolved before next week’s league match. “We have been told now that the Immigration Service has opened a case and he will most likely be ready to play in the match against Jonkoping next weekend.”

However, the relegation battling club will face a Swedish FA disciplinary committee punishment, which is losing three goals and a SEK 25,000 fine ($2,967).

But Martinsson is not worried that the club will be punished. “It is regrettable what happened. But there is rarely a team penalized for such an event,” he said.
