Mozambique-based businessman, Stanley Oluchi, was yesterday remanded at the Pademba Road Male Correctional Centre by Magistrate Santigie Bangura, presiding at the Freetown Magistrates’ Court No.1.
The accused made his first appearance in court yesterday to answer to five counts of conspiracy to import prohibited drugs, to wit heroin; importation of prohibited drugs; and unlawful possession of prohibited drugs contrary to section 8(1) of the National Drug Control Act of 2008.
The prosecution’s case is that the accused had on a date between Friday, 1st September 2017 and Friday 29th June 2018 conspired with unknown individuals to import prohibited drugs, heroin, from Mozambique to Sierra Leone, and that on Thursday, 14th September, 2017 and Monday, October 23rd 2017, he imported five kilograms of heroin from Mozambique to Sierra Leone, via Freetown International Airport, Lungi, without lawful authority.
The matter comes up again on July 23rd.
