Accused Herbert Williams in Court Today
June 8, 2018
The Western Area Regional Organising Secretary of the main opposition All Peoples Congress (APC) will make his second appearance at the Freetown Magistrate’s Court No 1 today, presided over by Magistrate Santigie Bangura.
Herbert Akieremi George-Williams is charged with three counts of conspiracy, assault and malicious damage, with the preliminary investigation by the magistrate to determine whether he should stand trial in the High Court.
He made his maiden appearance on May 29 and was put on a Le25 million bail, plus one surety.
The accused on March 31 2018 conspired with unknown persons at Mafa field in Lumley to assault Patrick Jaiah Kamara, a reporter at Concord Times.
The accused is also alleged to have damaged a Canon EOS 70D camera and carted away the reporter’s digital recorder.
It could be recalled that the accused together with Sanusi Bruski-Kargbo and thugs under their control attacked and terrorised journalists covering the March 31 presidential runoff elections.
It took the police nearly two months to charge the matter to court. Co-accused, Sanusi Bruski-Kargbo is reportedly on the run.
