President Retired Brigadier Julius Maada Bio has appointed Lusine Kallon as Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs to help addresses the growing challenges confronting the youths.
Born to humble Sierra Leonean parents in Kenema, Lusine Kallon started his early education at the Methodist Primary School in Kenema and proceeded to the Government Secondary School in Bo, popularly known as ‘The Bo School.’ In a bid to acquire higher learning, he proceeded first to the Milton Margai College of Education and Technology to bag a National Diploma in International Relations and later the Institute of Advanced Management and Technology (IAMTECH) to put under his belt a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Management.
Between 2010 and 2012, Lusine Kallon served as the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Students’ Union President and helped expand the SLPP students’ wing and in the course attracted more political converts from the various campuses.
As a fresh graduate from MMCET he gained employment with SLYEO as Administrative Assistant. After completing his under-graduate degree, he secured employment with Tropical Farms Limited as the Export/Import and Store Manager. At the end his contract, he was employed Operations Manager for the Uncle Hong Mining Company. As a fully paid up member of the ruling SLPP he vied to become the National Young Generation (YG) leader. Motivated by the party’s core values, he supported the duly elected YG to achieve the party’s ambitious goal.
Throughout his life, Lusine has been people-friendly and his name and reputation sit well with the young. He has always entertained the drive to work in the arena of promoting young people and his appointment as Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Youth Affairs can best be dubbed as ‘putting the correct man in the right place.’
His dream to empower and capacitate Sierra Leonean youth puts him in good stead for the overall accomplishment of the SLPP’s New Direction manifesto.
