Wife of murder victim Patrick Bangura a.k.a. Junior yesterday testified in the High Court of Sierra Leone on how her husband was murdered by her elder sister and two others.
The accused persons -Demoh Bangura, Sholay Val-Renner and David Sesay – are currently standing trial in the High Court presided over by Justice John Bosco Alieu on two counts of conspiracy to murder and murder contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.
State Counsel Joan Mayota Sandeke Bull alleges that the accused persons on Monday, 14 April 2016, at 7 Upper Tengbeh Town conspired with other persons unknown to commit a felony, to wit murder, and did murder one Patrick Bangura.
In her testimony, Cecilia Bockarie, who identified herself to the court as wife of the deceased, identified the first accused (Demoh Bangura) as the elder sister of her late husband, the second accused (Sholay Val-Renner) as husband of the first accused and third accused David Sesay as uncle of her late husband.
She recalled 11 April, 2016 when her late husband was found in a cesspit at their Upper Tengbeh Town residence in Freetown.
She narrated that prior to the incident on 11 April, 2016 there had been several issues in their compound between the accused persons and her late husband.
She furthered that on 13 March, 2016 she was in her room at around 2p.m. when the first accused approached her and asked for the whereabouts of her husband before uttering certain threatening remarks.
The witness said that on the same day, at around 4p.m., the second accused went to their apartment with a cutlass and threatening to attack her husband because the latter had accused him the (second accused) of selling his building materials.
At this juncture, due to some disagreement between the prosecutor and the defending counsel Ishmael Philip Mammie, the presiding judge adjourned the matter to Monday, 28 May.
