Reports reaching Concord Times say two supporters of the ruling Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) were reportedly shot dead by armed Police officers in Kenema, eastern Sierra Leone.
According to report, the supporters, who were celebrating their party’s victory along Hangha Road engaged in an altercation with some members of the police who reacted by firing tear gas canisters and releasing live bullets, thus killing two people.
Images shown on Africa Young Voices (AYV) television showed the injured in hospital and being treated at the Kenema Government Hospital by paramedics.
When contacted, police spokesperson Superintendent Ibrahim Samura told Concord Times that he was monitoring the situation and declined to provide detail on the issue as at press time.
