A double rape matter involving one Santigie Tejan Karim Kamara was last Friday committed to the High Court by Magistrate Albert J.. Moody, after the latter concluded a preliminary investigation into the alleged sexual penetration of two girls aged 6 and 8, respectively.
Police had charged the accused on two counts of sexual penetration of two girls, contrary to section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act of 2012, with arraignment at the Freetown Magistrates’ Court No.2.
According to police prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Tommy B. Zizer, on diverse dates between 1 and 27 May, 2015 at No.7 SLBS Drive, Goderich in Freetown, the accused sexually penetrated the two victims.
In his ruling, Magistrate Moody said the prosecution had led sufficient evidence against the accused person to warrant a committal to the High Court for trial.
In his plea of mitigation, the accused told the court he was not guilty of the offences under which he was charged, and indicated he would call witnesses and lead evidence in his own behalf at the superior court.
The accused though was unrepresented.
He was denied him bail and remanded at the male correctional centre on Pademba Road until the matter comes up in the next session of the High Court this September.
