The Ohio State University quarter mile Standout and now National Record holder for the Indoor 400 meters for Sierra Leone, Maggie Barrie, lifted her University and Sierra Leone to higher heights over the weekend when she set a new Personal Best (PB) at the Big 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships in Geneva Ohio with a time of 52.82 seconds.
Barrie, who finished 4th in the 400 meters Finals at the Big 10 Championships now ranks as the 4th best 400 meters Athlete in the Big 10, the 15th best in the NCAA, among the top 5 in Africa and Top 100 in the world according to NCAA records for 2018.
Barrie last represented Sierra Leone at the 2017 IAAF World Athletics Outdoor Championships in London which was her first official competition for Sierra Leone. She is one of the biggest prospects for the nation in the upcoming 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha Qatar and the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo Japan in 2020.
As her last season as a College Senior looms, she looks forward to an active campaign for the outdoors with an eye to set another record for Sierra Leone.
