Recently naturalised Sierra Leonean sprinter, Solomon Bockarie, over the weekend set a new club record and a personal best after clocking 10.32 seconds in the 100 meters race at the Leiden Gouden Spike National Circuit of Athletics Sport in Holland.

Bockarie, who recently acquired Dutch citizenship, for the first time competed in the Leiden Gouden Spike event – which is one of the top meetings of athletes in Holland – and he represented the ARV Ilion club.

The 28-year-old, who represented Sierra Leone in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, had a perfect race on Saturday as he finished second behind Hensley Paulina, who clocked 10.31 seconds.

The now Dutch citizen then finished third in the 200 meters race with a time of 21.09 seconds, whilst Terrence Agard finished in first place with 21.08 seconds, followed by Hensley with a time of 21.09 seconds.

In the 4x100m relay, Bockarie was part of the Dutch team that finished second with a time of 40.14 seconds, just behind the strongest national team which clocked 40.06 seconds.
