Sierra Leone national female cricket team on Tuesday departed the country’s shores for Accra, Ghana to start their title defence in the second edition of the North- West Africa female cricket tournament that will run from January 19 to 21 in Accra.
The three- day championship will feature host, Ghana, Nigeria, The Gambia and the current title holders Sierra Leone, who will be searching for a back-to back success this time at the Achimota Cricket Oval.
After months of preparation, the Sierra Leonean ladies who played series of warm-up matches to keep fit ahead of the tourney, traveled with highly experienced team that will be captained by all-rounder, Linda Bull.
Bull, who had a successful campaign during the 2015 tournament in Banjul, The Gambia- will be having the likes of Ann Marie Monica Kamara and Zainab Kamara -who were also outstanding in the tournament maiden edition three years back.
This year’s tournament host, Ghana, finished third in the last edition while the then host, The Gambia finished as runners-up.
Sierra Leone’s selected squad for this year’s tourney are; Linda Bull (Captain), Ann Marie Monica Kamara, Zainab Kamara, Adama Kamara, Janet Kowa, Aminata Kamara, Festina Max-Bangura, Mabinty King, Ramatu Kassim, Isatu Koroma, Fatu Pessima, Sunkarie Koroma, Marie Turay and Mabinty Sankoh.
